Agility Fun Match

Saturday morning was the Agility Fun Match event. Lucy and Darcy practiced their agility skill in Livermore at the Fremont Pet Training Club Agility Match. They did well, though Lucy might want to consider cleats if the event is in the morning. Click here to see the YouTube video of the event. It was not the best photography but you'll get the idea of the event.
Darcy does not even look nervous.
Jason, Carolyn and Isaac came to cheer on the participants. Isaac practiced his word -- "dog."

Isaac says, "What do you think of my Giants hat?"
Curtis really enjoys his time with Isaac.
Isaac's favorite toy is also a dog.

Filoli Gardens

Lucy and Curtis went with their church cell group (the TWEK'ers) to Filoli Gardens. It was beautiful and only briefly did the clouds sprinkle on us.

Below is the picture for Dennis, alias "kylokee" (originally from the word coyote)

The docent would not let us touch the banana slug. She had to put it on the glass. We were not allowed to kiss the slug, darn.

The owners of this mansion and grounds lived here by themselves, which was only about four people in this whole big grounds. Of course they had their servants but it seemed like it would have been an empty and lonely place. Naked they came to this earth and naked they left it.

Skylights Replacement Part 3

This was the final step in the skylight replacement process. Darrell spread out asphalt emulsion and then threw gravel over that.

It is now completely done. At times in the last three months I wondered if I would ever see this. It is not something I would have chosen. I could think of many other ways to spend $2300 but I know God is sovereign and He has led me through this dark channel. He has even done some amazing things like bring me in contact with Darrell, who is a valuable brother in the Lord and a skilled roofer.

Skylights Replacement Part 2

Here is Curtis in his tar clothes beginning another skylights replacement day.
This is how the day began with the new plywood.
Here is a curb mounted on the skylight hole. The skylight will fit on the curb.
This roll roofing will be used upside down on the plywood.
The "torchlight" material is put on the rool roofing with a torch.
The can on the right is known as mastic in the trade and it is used as a patch on holes and at the edges. The asphalt emulsion is used at the end and smeared over everything else. It holds the gravel and fills any small holes. Today we did not put on the asphalt emulsion because it is water based and it is due to rain tonight. It will be put on next week, it only takes an hour or so. The roof is leak free without it. See below in the testing phase.
Here Darrel puts on the roof roll.
Here he puts the torchlight on.
Here he torches the bond between the roof roll and the torchlight material.
Here is the torch.More torching.

The mastic has been put on the edges and corners. In the mastic is put a mesh-like material to give it strength. It does not really look done because the asphalt emulson and gravel have not yet been put on. However, it is leak free.
The work passes the test!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Praise God.

Skylights Replacement UGH!!

This is Darryl. If you need roof work done he is your man. He also has lots of very interesting stories.

This is before the work. First the old roof had to be peeled off.

The work was very messy and tedious.

This is how it looked after the old tar and gravel was removed.
Below Darryl takes out the bad skylights.
He is very strong. Here Darryl carries up by himself the new skylight.

The plywood was found to be bad so it had to be removed and replaced.

The plywood was replaced and the old skylights temporarily placed over the holes for overnight protection from the elements.
The roof is very messy with lots of stuff for the garbage.
