Skyler Returns Home

Bummer! I got the dreaded call this morning. Skyler has been released for prey drive and for fearful behavior. I am not surprised. She did have a prey and chase drive issue with me. I will be going to get her after her stitches are taken out, either Friday or Monday. We will be keeping her as she is such a sweet, calm, mellow dog otherwise. Lucy

Weekend Trip to San Diego

Curtis and Lucy (above) enjoy a relaxing morning in the San Diego sunshine.

The hotel where we stayed. It did not have a fitness room but it was near a Starbucks and 24 Hour Fitness gym. (I guess you know what is important to Curtis.)

Above (the first level area shown only) is the condominium where Trisha and Gustavo will live.

Curtis attempted to play basketball with Gustavo and the kids from MRM ministries. Curtis played pitifully but he tried hard.

Trisha had a shower with the friends from church and Gustavo's family. Not shown are many unmentionables that were given. I am told that at one point a 7 year old (of the family who hosted the shower) came by the party room and said "I don't think that is big enough for you to wear, Trisha".

Mom's (Lorraine's) Night at the Senior Banquet

Curtis's Mom (Lorraine) had a great time at the Senior Banquet at the Hilton. She could not remember what she did or ate but she new she had a great time. Her 80 year old nun friend won the grand prize for a trip to Las Vegas. Apparently the nun likes to gamble. Many thanks to Lisa for taking Mom.

Lighter moments at the house

Lucy, Curtis and our very, very good friends, Janet and Ken, had some lighter moments between hours of work on Saturday at Nora's house. Everything is easier with friends. Many thanks to Janet and Ken.

Lucy wins tennis match

Lucy and her partner won their tennis match 6-3 6-2. Thursday Lucy had a one hour private tennis lesson and she was anxious to try her new skills. She says she did not play well due to focusing too much on the lesson and not enough on the match. However, she had some impressive shots nevertheless.

Gethsemane Pond

This is the pond today. The waterfall in the center makes a wonderful sound. It is Curtis' place of communion with his Father.

The pond when it began in June 2001.

A puppy's energy

Meet Darcy, Lucy and Briana's 4th Canine Companion for Independence puppy. Darcy is either a whirlwind of energy or an exhausted cuddly ball of fur. One of Lucy's favorite times is at 6:30 am when she allows puppy to lay next to her in bed. Darcy does not seem too sad about loosing her friend Skyler, see the earlier blog.

Initially Darcy had digestive problems and had to get up at least every two hours during the night. That was hard on Lucy and Briana. Curtis mostly slept through it all. With medication Darcy is doing better.

She is doing well with her basic commands though she still enjoys some bad activities like chewing toilet paper. Oh well, we all have our bad habits; don't we?

Good Bye Nora

In Loving Memory of
Nora Beavers
August 9, 1929
September 24, 2006

God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not to be,
so he put his arms around you,
and whispered "Come to me".
With tearful eyes we watched you,
and saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly,
we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
hard working hands at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.

St. Pius Catholic Church with the hurst with Nora

We gathered in Nora's memory and laughed and cried in her memory. May we all seek to live up to her example of Christ-like suffering, humble service and generous love.
